A little about me!

Hey! I'm so excited to start my future collection of books which will make a big impact on the dynamic of my future classroom library. I hope to be a kindergarten teacher once I obtain my EC-6 Education degree with a supplement in ESL.

I read Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Along with Haddix being a  New York Times  bestselling author, this book also received the California Young Readers medal along with many other recognitions and awards. This book's main character is a boy named Luke who lives with his mom, dad, and two older brothers, Matthew and Mark. However, the government has made a law that each family is only allowed two children. So, Luke lives every moment of his life in hiding. Luke is a shadow child. Luke's family live on a farm in the middle of the woods, so if Luke was cautious he was allowed to be outside and help in the barn. Blog Post #1 (Childhood Reading)

  Books. To lose track of time from getting lost in the pages and becoming part of the story is just a feeling like no other. I absolutely loved reading in elementary school. I was a good reader and was grateful that reading clicked for me in early elementary. The school that I went to was all about the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, and my little, competitive self was all over earning those AR points. I remember there was a big chart posted in the hallway and every kid had a little bus with his or her name on it that would be moved up according to the amount of points he or she had, and I took pride having my bus in one of the top 2 spots. I read a variety of things and always looked forward to going to the school library to check out new books. Some of my favorites I remember reading in elementary school were the Junie B. The War That Saved My Life

I read the book The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. This book is a Newberry Honor Book. I didn't realize how much I was going to love this book until I started it. Honestly, I was kind of dreading having to read it since it was historical fiction. They say never judge a book by it's cover, but I definitely learned to never just a book only by it's genre. The book's main character is Ada who has a little brother named Jamie. Ada was born with a disability labeled as a club foot, and her mother only sees her as disabled. Ada's mother doesn't allow Ada to go outside, and treats Ada horribly. Things have always been awful for Ada, but she hadn't even realized how awful it was for her until she got out of the abuse. The title fits the book perfectly because if it wasn't for the war Ada wouldn't have had anywhere to run away to. All of the children in the town were being sent away from London for safety from Hitler and his armies. So, ...
